Mark King looked most unhappy as he stormed out of the arena after Davis had taken a 7-6 lead, the 12th frame clearly still rankling with the 36-year-old.
Television replays appeared to show Davis had committed a foul during frame 12 which was not called, and that may explain why King played on when in an impossible position.
On the other table, Dott was continuing to sustain his 2006 superiority over Ebdon and a break of 57 helped him to take the first frame after the interval to extend his advantage to 4-1.
